Biographs LLC is the sole manufactuer of PainTrace, the first medical device capable of objective pain measurement. It has been known in the scientific literature for over 20 years that, in all mammals, signature shifts in the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) accompany any moderate to severe pain that lasts for more than a few minutes. This shift produces physiological changes that can be detected by the PainTrace device. Trials in horses and humans have shown highly significant correlation with known states of injury or lack of injury. Measurements of cats, dogs, and mice has correlated also.

The measurement requires approximately 3 minutes and is so simple it can be performed by any staff memeber with less than 30 minutes of training.
